5 sights in Kavarna

The small town on the Northern Black Sea Coast attracts its guests with its interesting nature and some “hidden” places, which are obligatory to be visited.Only 60 km. north of Varna, located between golf courses, rocky shores and vast windmills, Kavarna offers opportunities for a different holiday, which is characterized by the romance of tranquility rather than the vibrant beaches and discos. But that’s where the charm of the city lies, and here are some places where you’ll fall in love!

Cape Chirakman

In the 1st century BC, an earthquake leads to the collapse of a large part of the nose and its fall into the sea. An interesting fact is that the ancient city Bison was built precisely on Cape Chirakman. Later the medieval town emerged on an old Byzantine fortress and became an important craft center. After the fall of the city under Ottoman rule, residents moved to today’s city limits Kavarna.

Today there are paths on which the nose can be climbed and the view to Kavarna and the sea is impressive.

Mussel Farm “DALBOKA”

Several miles north of the city, next to July Morning Seaside Resort, is located the Mussel Farma “Dalboka”. The mussels are grown in one of the cleanest areas of the Black Sea – the bay of Kaliakra, and the view of the small restaurant on the farm is fantastic.

Port of Kavarna

The old harbor and the shops complex offer a true immersion in the city’s past revival. Part of the buildings are monuments of culture, and the impressive stone buildings, shaped like an ancient settlement, are a pleasant place for a walk.

Museum of History

The museum has exhibits from the large archaeological complexes along the Northern Black Sea coast – Yailata and Kaliakra, as well as from the biggest old-Bulgarian ceramic center in Europe – this region near the village of Topola. The museum’s exposition shows the history of the city from the 5th century until the middle of the 20th century.

Tholos, parks and alleys

When you are in Kavarna, you must also visit:

  • The Old Public Bathroom
  • The alley with the old fountains
  • The Ethnographic Complex
  • The Art Gallery
  • The Alley of the Rock Music
  • The city park
  • Churches in the city, which are one of the oldest buildings

Have a nice walk! 🙂
